Why Go
Akbar rebuilt the fort from 1565, and his grandson Shah Jahan added the white marble palaces. Its walls run about 2.5 km around a city of courtyards and halls.
Shah Jahan was locked up here by his own son for his last eight years. From the Musamman Burj you can see what he saw: the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna.
