Why Go

King was born in 1929 in the Queen Anne house at 501 Auburn Avenue. He was baptized and later co-pastor at Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, where you can sit in the sanctuary and hear his sermons. At the King Center, he and Coretta Scott King rest in a tomb in a reflecting pool by an eternal flame.

Tips

  • Birth home tours are small and free, and fill fast; go to the visitor center early in the day to get a spot.
