Why Go
The Romans built a fort here called Singidunum, and the walls you see were rebuilt by the Austrians and Ottomans in the 18th century. The Victor, a bronze statue by Ivan Meštrović from 1928, looks out over the rivers.
Kalemegdan Park surrounds the walls, and the little Ružica Church inside has chandeliers made by First World War soldiers from bullet casings.
