Why Go

Built as a city gate in 1791, it stood just inside East Berlin when the Wall went up, sealed off for 28 years. When the Wall fell in 1989, crowds gathered here to celebrate.

It opens onto the Pariser Platz, with the embassies and the grand hotel, and the Reichstag is a few minutes' walk.
