Why Go

On December 21, 1989, Ceaușescu spoke from the balcony of the Communist Party headquarters, and the crowd began to boo. The next day he fled from the roof by helicopter; he was captured and executed on Christmas Day.

The Memorial of Rebirth honors those who died in the revolution. Around the square stand the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum of Art, and the university library.
