Getting There
About 40 minutes by suburban train from Batthyány tér in Budapest to Szentendre; in summer, boats run up the river to all three towns.

Why Go

North of Budapest the Danube bends sharply through wooded hills. Szentendre, a riverside town of Serbian churches and galleries, is the nearest stop; Visegrád has the ruins of a royal palace and a hilltop citadel with the best view of the bend; and Esztergom, Hungary's first capital, is crowned by the country's largest church.
