Getting There
About 20 minutes by car northwest of downtown, on the road to Middleton Place.

Why Go

Built for John Drayton, the house survived the Revolution, the Civil War and the 1886 earthquake. It is preserved, not restored, so you see original plaster and paint. Tours and an African American cemetery tell the story of the enslaved people who built and ran the plantation.
