Dodge City and the Tallgrass Prairie

Kansas

The Wild West's wickedest town, and the great Flint Hills, the last of the tallgrass prairie that once covered the plains.

Dodge City was a cattle-shipping town in the 1870s, the home of Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, and the Boot Hill Museum recreates Front Street. Far to the east, the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve has a bison herd, an 1881 ranch house and grass as far as you can see.
