Getting There
Next to Bright Angel Lodge in the village.

Why Go

Walk down to the first tunnels for a taste, or to the 1.5-mile or 3-mile rest house. Remember that going up takes twice as long as going down. Water stations along the way can be shut off by pipeline repairs, so check the status.

Tips

  • Don't try to go to the river and back in a day. Heat is the danger: rangers rescue many people each summer.
