Why Go

A steep path and steps lead down into a great hall of stalactites with a small pool, where the Minoans left offerings for centuries. The drive up crosses the Lasithi Plateau, a flat basin of orchards and fields ringed by mountains, once dotted with thousands of white-sailed windmills.
