Why Go

Johnson Space Center has trained astronauts and run human spaceflight since the 1960s; 'Houston' was the first word spoken from the Moon. Climb into the replica shuttle Independence on top of its 747, see real Moon rocks and Apollo 17's command module.

Tram tours visit the astronaut training facility and Rocket Park, with a giant Saturn V rocket lying on its side.

Tips

  • Get a boarding pass for the astronaut training tram tour as soon as you arrive; they run out.
