Why Go

A stairway of 99 steps climbs from the landing to the baroque Church of the Assumption. Pull the rope of its wishing bell, and legend says your wish will come true; it's a tradition for grooms to carry their brides up the steps.

The pletnas, flat-bottomed boats rowed standing up, have carried visitors for centuries; only a few families hold the licenses.
