Why Go

Built around 1333 as part of the city's defenses, it is one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in Europe. Triangular paintings from the 1600s under the roof tell Lucerne's history; many were lost when fire swept the bridge in 1993, and it was rebuilt within a year. The octagonal Water Tower beside it once served as a prison and treasury.
