Why Go

Built in the 18th century on the site of a Moorish fortress, the palace has some 3,400 rooms. Visitors see the throne room with its Tiepolo ceiling, the royal pharmacy and one of the finest armories in the world.

The royal family lives elsewhere and uses it for ceremonies; the guard changes on set days.
