Why Go

St. Athanasios founded the monastery on the 'broad rock' around 1340, more than 600 meters above sea level. Its church is covered in 16th-century frescoes, and the old kitchen, cellars and a room of skulls of past monks can be seen.

Tips

  • Dress code: skirts below the knee for women, long trousers for men, covered shoulders.
