Why Go

Laid out after the war over the ruins of the old city, the avenue runs past colonnaded palaces of the 1940s and 1950s, the KGB headquarters, still known by that name, and October Square. Its central section is on UNESCO's tentative list as one of the finest ensembles of Soviet planning.
