Why Go

The casino saved Monaco from bankruptcy in the 1860s, and Garnier's building of 1878 gave Monte Carlo its name for glamour. By day, visitors can tour the painted gaming rooms and the opera house inside; in the evening, the gamblers take over.

The square in front, with its gardens and supercars, is a show in itself.

Tips

  • You must be 18 or over with ID; there's a dress code in the evening.
