Why Go

The Church of the Ascension was built in 1532 to celebrate the birth of the future Ivan the Terrible, and was the first stone church with a tall tented roof; it is a UNESCO site. The estate also holds the wooden palace of Tsar Alexei, rebuilt from old plans, apple orchards, and old wooden buildings brought from across Russia.
