Why Go

Founded in 1524 by a pond on the edge of the city, the convent took in noblewomen and tsarinas, some against their will, and is a UNESCO site. The cemetery beside it holds Gogol, Chekhov, Bulgakov, Shostakovich, Khrushchev and Yeltsin.
