Why Go

Garachico was the island's main port, shipping wine to Europe, until an eruption in 1706 sent lava into the bay. The rebuilt town keeps its convents and cobbled squares, and the cooled lava along the shore forms the rock pools of El Caletón, calm for swimming in summer.
