Why go
The Metropolitan Museum of Art covers 5,000 years of art from every part of the world, and no one sees it all in one visit. The best-loved rooms are the Temple of Dendur, a real Egyptian temple under a wall of glass; the European paintings with Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh; the arms and armor hall; and the American Wing.
Tips
- Pick three or four galleries in advance and use the map; trying to see everything is exhausting.
- Your ticket also covers the Met Cloisters, its medieval branch in northern Manhattan, on the same day.
- Some galleries, including the roof garden, are closed for renovation; check before you go.
