Why Go

Akrotiri was a rich trading town of the Minoan age when the volcano erupted, around 1600 BC. Its people seem to have escaped in time, but the ash preserved their houses up to three stories high, with stairs, storage jars and fragments of brilliant frescoes, now in museums.
