Getting There
A climb of about 600 rock-cut steps, or palanquins.

Why Go

Vines climb his limbs, as he's meant to have stood so long in meditation. Every 12 years, thousands pour milk, saffron and turmeric over him at the Mahamastakabhisheka.

Tips

  • Shoes must come off at the foot of the steps, so go early to keep your feet cool.
