Why Go

People built an Iron Age hillfort here around 400 BC, and the Romans, Saxons and Normans followed. The Normans raised a castle and a cathedral inside the ramparts, but the bishop moved down to the river in the 1220s and founded the new city of Salisbury. The cathedral's foundations are laid out in the grass, with views to today's spire.
