Why Go

Found in 1902 during building work, the three levels of chambers were cut from the limestone between about 4000 and 2500 BC and held the remains of thousands of people. Red ochre spirals survive on the ceilings, and the Oracle Room carries a voice through the whole complex. The Sleeping Lady figure found here is in the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta.

  • Tickets sell out far in advance; a few last-minute tickets for the next day go on sale at a higher price.
