Why Go

Once a poor fishing village, Positano became famous after John Steinbeck wrote of it in 1953. Lanes of boutiques and steps lead down to the church of Santa Maria Assunta, with its tiled dome, and to the long pebbly Spiaggia Grande, where boats leave for Capri and the coast.
