Why Go

Begun in 1772, the State House served as the US capitol from November 1783 to August 1784. In its Old Senate Chamber, Washington resigned his commission as commander-in-chief on December 23, 1783, and Congress ratified the Treaty of Paris in January 1784. Its dome is the largest wooden dome in the country built without nails.
