Getting There
About an hour by high-speed train from Barcelona Sants to Figueres Vilafant, then a 20-minute walk.

Why Go

Dalí turned the ruins of the town's theater into a museum of his own design, crowned by a glass dome and topped with giant eggs, and filled it with paintings, sculptures and installations such as the Mae West room. He is buried in a crypt beneath the stage, and a separate gallery shows the jewels he designed.

Tips

  • Figueres is also on the way to the Costa Brava.
