Why Go

On Bernauer Strasse, the Wall split the street itself, and people leaped from windows to escape to the West. A long section of the border installation survives, with its patrol road and a watchtower, and markers trace escape tunnels and the lives lost.

The visitor center and the documentation center's viewing tower explain how the border worked.
