Why Go
Qutb-ud-din Aibak began the tower to mark the start of Muslim rule in Delhi, and his successors finished it. Bands of Arabic carving wrap all five stories, and you can't climb it.
The complex around it holds one of India's oldest mosques, built with stones from Hindu and Jain temples, and the Gupta-era Iron Pillar, which has hardly rusted in about 1,600 years.
Tips
- Walk on to Mehrauli Archaeological Park, right next door, for free.
