Why Go
The Medici grand dukes moved here in the 16th century, and its Palatine Gallery hangs paintings frame to frame in gilded rooms, including Raphael's Madonna della Seggiola and works by Titian. Other wings hold royal apartments, modern art and a costume museum.
Behind it, the Boboli Gardens climb the hill in avenues, grottoes and statues, with views back over the city.
