A village at the head of the winding Geirangerfjord, with the Seven Sisters falls and mountain viewpoints high above.
Geiranger is a village of about 200 people at the head of the Geirangerfjord, the most famous of Norway's fjords: 9.3 miles of deep green water between cliffs more than 1,000 meters high, with waterfalls pouring down them and abandoned farms clinging to ledges. With the Nærøyfjord, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Spend two days: a boat on the fjord past the Seven Sisters, the drive up to the Dalsnibba viewpoint, and the hairpins of the Eagle Road. In summer, cruise ships anchor in the fjord most days, so go out early or stay the night.
