Why Go

Carl Ludvig Engel designed the Lutheran cathedral, finished in 1852 after his death, as the crown of a new neoclassical center for the Russian tsars' Grand Duchy of Finland. Zinc statues of the twelve apostles stand on the roof.

Senate Square below is framed by the government palace and the university, around a statue of Tsar Alexander II.
