Why Go

A gondola climbs to the lake of Skalnaté pleso, and from there a small cabin, running since 1940, swings up to the summit, where an observatory and a café cling to the rock. Visitors may stay on top for 50 minutes; on a clear day the view reaches across Slovakia and into Poland.

The highest wind speed ever measured in Slovakia, 283 km/h, was recorded at Skalnaté pleso in 1965.
