Why Go

The ruins date from the 13th to the 16th century, built on the site of an early medieval fort. The castle changed hands in the wars of independence and was raided again and again by the MacDonalds, until government troops blew it up in 1692 to keep it from the Jacobites. Climb the Grant Tower for the view down the loch, the most famous in the Highlands.
