Why Go

On March 22, 1943, German and collaborating troops herded the people of Khatyn into a barn and set it on fire. The memorial, opened in 1969, marks each house with a chimney and a bell, and its Cemetery of Villages holds soil from 185 other villages destroyed in the same way and never rebuilt.
