Why Go

Monks settled here in 966, and the abbey grew over five centuries. Its masterpiece is La Merveille, a 13th-century Gothic building of three floors on the north side, with the refectory and the cloister at the top. After the Revolution it became a prison until 1863.

The gilded statue of St. Michael on the spire was placed in 1897.
