Why Go

The Carthusian monks' monastery was founded in the 14th century and redecorated in the baroque era. It now holds a museum of Naples, with a famous 18th-century nativity of hundreds of figures, and terraced gardens looking over the city.

Next door, the star-shaped Castel Sant'Elmo has a panoramic walkway on its walls.
