Why Go

Founded in 1789, the cemetery's whitewashed tombs stand above the high water table in narrow 'streets'. Homer Plessy of Plessy v. Ferguson and Marie Laveau are buried here. To protect it from vandalism, the Archdiocese allows entry only on licensed tours.

Tips

  • Book a tour with an operator licensed by the Archdiocese.
