Why Go

Built for the 1889 World's Fair and meant to stand for only 20 years, the tower became the symbol of Paris. Lifts and stairs climb to two platforms, and a lift goes on to the summit.

After dark it sparkles with lights for five minutes at the start of every hour. The best views of it are from the Trocadéro across the river and the lawns of the Champ de Mars.

Tips

  • Book weeks ahead in summer, or climb the stairs, where lines are shorter.
