Why Go

Fifteen 19th-century boathouses line the east bank of the Schuylkill, home to rowing clubs that still train on the river. At night their outlines are lit, a classic Philadelphia view from the Girard Avenue Bridge or the West River Drive. The Schuylkill River Trail runs past them.

Boathouse Row sits at the edge of Fairmount Park, one of the largest city parks in the country, which runs for miles along the river and holds the zoo and the Shofuso Japanese House.
