Getting There
About 45 minutes by car or bus from Reykjavík, or 20 minutes from Keflavík airport.

Why Go

The lagoon is fed by seawater heated deep underground and released by a power plant nearby. Its silica turns the water an opaque pale blue at about 100°F, and bathers smear on white silica mud and soak among the lava.

Tips

  • Many travelers stop on the way to or from the airport: book a slot that fits your flight.
