- Tram to Ilidža, then a taxi or bus, about 45 minutes in all; many tours include it.
Why Go
For most of the siege, from 1992 to 1996, the city was surrounded and shelled. In 1993 its defenders dug an 800-meter tunnel under the UN-held runway, and food, weapons and people passed through it. A short stretch can be walked at the family house where it came out, with a film and the soldiers' gear.
