Why Go

Built from 1401 on the site of the great mosque, the cathedral has a golden altarpiece and the tomb of Christopher Columbus, carried by four figures of the kingdoms of Spain.

The Giralda, the mosque's 12th-century minaret, is climbed by 35 gentle ramps built so a man on horseback could ride to the top.

Tips

  • Shoulders and knees should be covered.
