Bus or taxi to the Simeonovo gondola, about 30 minutes, or a bus to Aleko.

Why Go

Vitosha became the first nature park in the Balkans in 1934. The Simeonovo gondola climbs to the Aleko area, starting point for the walk to Cherni Vrah, the summit; the Golden Bridges, a 'river' of huge round stones, are an easy outing.

In winter, Aleko has ski runs within an hour of the city.
