Why Go

The basilica was built in the time of the emperor Justinian, and in the 14th century the city took its name, Sofia, 'wisdom'. Beneath it, a museum shows the tombs and mosaics of an older Roman cemetery.

Beside it, an eternal flame burns at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier.
