Why Go

Built from 1882 to 1912, the cathedral remembers the soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878, which ended five centuries of Ottoman rule. Its gilded domes and dark, candlelit interior of murals and onyx hold several thousand people.

The crypt holds a large museum of Bulgarian icons.
