Getting There
About 10 minutes by car west of Vík.

Why Go

Hexagonal columns of basalt form a cave and great stairs at one end of the beach, and the sea stacks of Reynisdrangar rise offshore. Huge waves run far up the sand without warning; a traffic-light system at the car park shows the danger level.

Tips

  • Never turn your back on the sea here, and keep children close.
