Getting There
About 1½ hours by car east of Reykjavík, just off the Ring Road.

Why Go

The river drops about 60 meters over the cliff, and a path loops behind the falling water. A short walk north, Gljúfrabúi hides in a narrow canyon you enter by wading along the stream.

Tips

  • Bring a waterproof jacket: you'll get soaked behind the falls.
