Why Go

Peter began Peterhof in 1714 to rival Versailles. The Grand Cascade of gilded statues and jets falls from the palace to a canal that leads to the sea, and the Lower Park holds about 150 fountains, among them trick fountains that soak passers-by. Wrecked in the Second World War, the palace and park were rebuilt over decades.
